We create research-driven narratives that transform. Harnessing unparalleled creativity and uncompromising precision, we provide storytelling research, insights, and strategy for the most influential and ascendant companies in tech, entertainment, non-profit, and public policy.
From messaging architectures to brand platforms, from policy to product, our team of strategy, messaging, design, and research experts hone communications insights to craft stories that help our clients confidently tell their own.
At the heart of our organization is our mission to be an indispensable strategic partner with diverse, innovative, and global capabilities.
We’re seeking an Associate Director of Narrative and Insights to join us in continuously raising the bar to do just that.
THE OPPORTUNITY & ROLE
As an Associate Director of Narrative and Insights, you will join a group of data-driven and insights-led language experts, storytellers, and strategists.
You’ll design and deploy qualitative and quantitative research tools and methods to craft deliverables focused on messaging, communications, and brand strategy. You are guided by our shared belief that while research and data are essential foundations, telling a truly impactful story takes a critical eye, purposeful strategy, and creative thinking.
You and your team act as the champions and guardians of Storyline’s philosophy of storytelling and standards of excellence — the heart of everything we do.
You’ll report to the Head of Narrative & Insights, and collaborate with Client Leads to ensure we meet clients’ narrative and strategic needs in an integrated, holistic manner, and that research and reporting align with established objectives.

We are looking for someone who can deliver amidst the dynamic nature of workload and pace inherent in a client-service business. The adeptness to support and advance multiple projects simultaneously is critical, and passion for language and innovative, compelling storytelling is a must.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- 5+ years primary experience in applied market research, insights, data analytics, brand strategy, and/or messaging communications (such as strategic communications or public relations)
- Experience in facilitating and moderating qualitative research and client-facing workshops is strongly preferred but not required
- Experience leading and managing complex global qualitative and quantitative research projects, including projects with large-scale multi-country, multi-language focus groups, quantitative surveys, and analytics
- Expert familiarity and facility with qualitative and quantitative research tools, and practical knowledge of how they are applied to inform organizations’ strategic communications objectives
- Proven experience building complete communications and messaging strategies, architectures, and frameworks that deliver results across a range of mediums and channels
- Exceptional visual, verbal, and written communication skills; demonstrated presence and authority in communicating complex ideas to people at all organizational levels
- Exemplary copywriting and editing skills, including writing, revising, and editing across a range of communication types and topics from creative and brand campaigns to complex policy-oriented messaging and narratives.
- Ability to work outside of traditional business hours to support global clients and projects, including the management, facilitation, and analysis of qualitative research sessions
