STORYLINE: WHO WE ARE
We create research-driven narratives that transform. Harnessing unparalleled creativity and uncompromising precision, we provide storytelling research, insights, and strategy for the most influential and ascendant companies in tech, entertainment, non-profit, and public policy.
From messaging architectures to brand platforms, from policy to product, our team of strategy, messaging, design, and research experts hone communications insights to craft stories that help our clients confidently tell their own.
At the heart of our organization is our mission to be an indispensable strategic partner with diverse, innovative, and global capabilities.
We’re seeking a Research Operations Fieldwork Coordinator to join us in continuously raising the bar to do just that.
THE OPPORTUNITY & ROLE
As Research Operations Fieldwork Coordinator, you are central to the success of our qualitative research engagements. At Storyline Strategies, our research, strategy, and storytelling are rooted in real people sharing real stories, so clients can better shape their own. You’ll lead 5-7+ recruiting projects concurrently with varying needs, complexities, and geographies.
Our ability to deliver for our clients hinges upon the accuracy of the audience and the authenticity of their voice. No one takes a more exacting approach to cultivating the right audience and curating a representative mix of people within it.
You’ll develop and deploy bespoke recruiting approaches for highly customized and specialized audiences, such as policymakers, former government officials and employees, issue experts and advocates, online content creators, B2B decision-makers, and c-suite executives.
You’ll collaborate with Client Leads to ensure that 1) we recruit and deliver the participants needed to meet clients’ narrative and strategic needs in an integrated, holistic manner, and 2) that research and reporting align with established objectives.
You’ll take an active role in the project process right from the start – working closely with senior leadership to scope, price, and design our client engagements. You then transition seamlessly into project execution — either partnering with our trusted recruiting partners or conducting the recruiting yourself using a combination of our technology, tools, and direct outreach.
The start of any successful market research effort is clarity and alignment on the audience profile and definition. You’ll codify the profile and criteria in a robust persona and detailed screening instrument––ensuring partners, your project team, and our clients are aligned.
As the recruit unfolds, you’ll work closely with our partners and your project team to carefully monitor, track, and communicate progress. You’ll communicate with potential and confirmed participants, coordinating schedules, logistics, expectations, and incentives.
Beyond day-to-day project management and fieldwork operations, you’ll partner with senior leadership to develop and implement new AI-enabled tools to facilitate recruiting at scale.
WHAT YOU’LL DO

Strategize and coordinate in-house recruitment for projects, including identifying, screening, interviewing, and preparing participants for focus groups and in-depth interviews. You’ll conduct direct outreach via social media and other channels paired with targeted database outreach.
- Participant Selection & Management. Create, monitor, and track research participant profiles for all projects to ensure participants meet all screening criteria, and all audience subgroups and client needs are met within a given research session and across the full project. Partner closely with the Narrative & Insights team to ensure participants deliver on analysis needs.
- Screener & Profile Development. You will be responsible for collaborating with Storyline Strategies team leads to understand the domestic and international client needs and then utilizing your superb writing skills to produce a detailed participant profile and screener based on client and internal team proposals and kick-off calls.
- Database Management. You will be responsible for effectively managing and optimizing our database platform to monitor respondents’ past participation and engagement while ensuring compliance with all legal and research standards and best practices.
- Feedback and Communication. You’ll provide frequent updates and clear communication to internal and external partners. You’ll effectively manage vendors to stay on budget and deliver as scoped.
