Working for one of the nation’s most recognizable institutions of higher learning, we were tasked with understanding the student mindset: the reservations and hurdles to enrolling, along with their motivation and willingness to overcome them.
One of the biggest challenges to this engagement was finding a common language that appeals to ALL types of students, diverse in needs and objectives. Rather than focusing on the differences, we pivoted the focus to outcomes.
Prospective students are willing to confront their concerns IF the goal is truly within reach. By honing in on the facets of learning that appeal to all students–flexibility, affordability and efficacy–education becomes a meaningful opportunity, rather than a mere formality.
